    Note:  This meeting will be in Bothell, not Shoreline.

    Part 1.) The Review of SectorSurfer 
  • Principles is IMPORTANTfor everyone new to SectorSurfer, even experienced investors, because its automated differential trend-following algorithms lead to a much different methodology for building strategies and portfolios, we refer to as True Sector Rotation. for the benefit of new participants, the basic review will be repeated at the start of each meeting. We highly recommend viewing these additional materials to help you get off on the right foot:

    True Sector Rotation Theory, good background material. 
    Using SectorSurfer, browse topics, just know it's there. 
    Advanced Topics, browse topics, just know it's there. 
    My Strategies Tour, short video shows how it all works.

    Part 2.) New Measures on the Improved Strategy Charts  In the few days just before this meeting, SectorSurfer charts will have been significantly upgraded in a number of ways. In addition to examining the meaning of the new sub-charts, we will generally review the meaning of everything on the charts ....  how is it calculated and what does it mean. 
  • Internet Streaming 
    The meeting will be streamed live on the Internet at:  https://join.me/SectorSurfer. When you connect, you must also select how you will hear the meeting by clicking the phone icon. We recommend connecting audio via the internet if at all possible.  When you do so, most systems will also ask your permission to use the speaker for that. We recommend trying to connect a few minutes ahead of time to be sure connection issues are resolved in time for the start of the presentations. 

    Remote Participation 
    During the presentations, the audio will be kept in "presentation mode" where only the presenter can be heard so that the combined background noise from online participants does not distract from the quality of the audio transmission. However, during the question period after taking a few local questions we will open up the audio link so remote participants ask questions.

2.) "Three Ways to StormGuard Your ASSets” will review the technical basis for StormGuard, the differences between its incarnations, and techniques for building in alternative protection for your Strategies without using StormGuard (some of us get antsy sitting in cash too long).

This meeting will be streamed live on the Internet at:  https://join.me/SectorSurfer.  When you connect, you must also select how you will hear the meeting by clicking the phone icon. We recommend connecting audio via the internet if at all possible.  When you do so, most systems will also ask your permission to use the speaker for that. July 2015 SectorSurfer Momentum Investing Meeting

Hi Fellow SectorSurfer Users Group Members,

Here's the latest news from Scott Juds, Chief SectorSurfer, sharing with us details regarding the inaugural live and "streaming" meeting of the Seattle SectorSurfers Momentum Investing Meetup Group!

"The Seattle SectorSurfers Momentum Investing Meetup Group is now live online at www.meetup.com/SectorSurfers. It's inaugural Meetup, hosted by founder Norman Booth, is scheduled for Wednesday July 8th at 7:00 PM. Meetings will be held at Seattle's Shoreline Library and streamed live over the Internet at https://join.me/SectorSurferso anyone can attend. 

I met Norman a few weeks ago at a local SectorSurfer presentation where he approached me with boundless enthusiasm about forming a local users group. He volunteered to lead it if I would assist and support it. We agreed that if it was streamed live for those too far away to attend then it would also enable having remote guest presenters. For simplicity, live questions and comments will be restricted to local participants, but one may forward questions to Norman through the Meetup website in advance to have them answered during the meeting. 

Here are some additional details from Norman, Co-organizer and Event Host:
  • Norman Booth will present: “A Review of Risk Measures” 
    Scott Juds will present: “Don’t Put Coal in Your Rocket Engine”

    An open discussion will follow each presentation.

    1.) There are numerous measures of risk, such as the Sharpe Ratio, Sortino Ratio, Max Drawdown, and others, each of which evaluates risk in different ways. Examples charts will be used to illustrate the meaning and value of each measure.

    2.) To produce the highest performance results for both risk reduction and return improvement, one cannot feed SectorSurfer's differential-trend-following algorithm just any list of candidate ticker symbols. Understanding how the True Sector Rotation algorithm works leads to a better understanding of how to build better Strategies.

Just A Common Soldier

Happy 4th of July!

Just A Common Soldier, also known as A Soldier Died Today, is one of the most popular poems on the Internet. 
 
Written and published in 1987 by Canadian veteran and columnist A. Lawrence Vaincourt, it now appears in numerous anthologies, on thousands of websites and on July 4, 2008 it was carved into a marble monument at West Point, New York. 
 
This year marks the poem’s 28th anniversary.

I encourage you to watch this short video and ponder the freedoms that we have living in this beautiful country called "AMERICA."  Let's give thanks to all of those who have given of themselves to make this possible for us.
