SPECIAL SPEAKER: Chief SectorSurfer, Scott Juds, returned to Silicon Valley in March 2016 and shared with you some of the latest improvements to the powerful SectorSurfer software as shown below. Scott gave two most interesting presentations at this meeting covering the following subjects:
1st Presentation Title: “Introducing StormGuard-Armor” SectorSurfer pushes the envelope yet again with its new StormGuard-Armor, sporting twice the performance improvement previously provided by StormGuard-Std over simply owning the S&P-500. Although “over fitting” may quickly come to mind, Scott will show how the further incorporation of New Highs/Lows and Daily Volume data applied with PID Algorithms and Fuzzy Logic legitimately leads to these results. StormGuard-Armor will first be introduced March 19th at Scott’s LA AAII Chapter presentation, but the hood will be raised a bit more in San Jose. 2nd Presentation Title: “Addressing the Seven Faces of Risk” Risk is not a one-dimensional problem cured by a single step of diversification. A multi-step, layered approach is required to address the “Seven Faces of Risk.” By focusing exclusively on risk reduction, the typical investor’s paradigm of pursuing greater returns is turned on its head. As each aspect of risk is reduced, the upside further dominates. Focusing on reducing risk is the most important process in designing low drawdown portfolios. Specific examples will be reviewed.
